Battlefield 4; What I'd like to see.

In light of the Battlefield 4 news, I thought I'd share my thoughts on what I'd like to see. Enjoy!

First promotional image for Battlefield 4, thoughts?

We don't need a Single Player Campaign.

I may be one of the only ones, but I really didn't like the Battlefield 3 campaign. Battlefield 2 had no campaign, just multiplayer, and it was brilliant! I think for a game that boasts these large scale battles with playercounts up to 24 for consoles, and 64 for PC, the single player seems a bit trivial. We don't play huge multiplayer games, to go into a campaign and play alone.

If you're going to have a campaign, have it playable with two to four friends. That's what makes campaigns in games like Halo so great. I think Battlefield has the potential to pull off some brilliant cooperative play. As long as teamwork is emphasized and essential for mission completes. Battlefield 3 had cooperative, but it was awful. Let's face it, nobody wants to play Battlefield alone, leave that for Medal of Honor.

We don't need this.

Make it bigger than ever for consoles.

With the rumored technology floating about for the next gen consoles, I see no reason for there to not be a 48 to 64 player count, and maps to suit. Doing this would surely allow for a more amazing game. This could allow for squad combat to become more essential, simply because of the scale of combat happening around the battlefield. I don't know what it's like on PC, but this is what I'd hope it is.

This would definitely allow for much longer matches, and the gameplay to feel more like we're fighting in a war, and less like a small CoD style battle. I would imagine Rush would become something entirely different than what it is now.

This could look a little better.

Balance the classes a little better.

In Battlefield 3, the Assault class seemed a lot more useful, with better equipment and weapons. The Engineer was just as useful. Nobody seemed to like being Support, and Recon was left for the pretentious little kids, and the people who are interested in sniping in like every game, which includes me.

Let's balance them a little more. I'd like to be able to actually get ammo when I need some. I can't stress how annoying that is enough..

Make everything destructible.

The Battlefield games are infamous for utilizing the Frostbite Engine to create awesome destructible battlefields. The problem is, not all of the battlefield is destructible. most small houses are, trees topple over, craters come from big explosions, but the bigger buildings can only be reduced to a metal frame. I find this rather disappointing, so that's one thing I'd like improved. The amount of things to be destroyed would be increased if the player count and map size is increased, and since it's probably going to be on the new consoles, we may even see Frostbite 3.0, which would be awesome.

 This was actually pretty brilliant.

Anyway, that's what I'd like to see. What are your thoughts? Is there anything I've missed?

Battlefield 4 to be announced in 10 days?

So, IGN has recently been sent an invitation by EA.

It's happening. It's finally happening..
DICE generally like to show footage of the PC version, because of the player count, the size of the maps, and the breathtaking graphics, but since it's likely that it will be released on the next generation consoles, I'd like to see some gameplay footage from those. Regardless, I'm unbelievably keen for this.

Borderlands 2; New Vault Hunter to be revealed at PAX East.

So the trailer shown at SXSW has now been released online, and we can have a clearer view of the Vault Hunter. Well, his silhouette anyways.

Just from what I can see, he looks to be using some kind of mask. Breathing apparatus or gas mask perhaps?
If you look at his left arm, he seems to have a tube connecting to something attached to him. Since he's probably a melee focused character, I would think that's how he can add elemental damage to his melee attacks.
It seems to be shaped much like a mutated bruiser, or lab rat.
In one of the quick scenes, he seemed to attack a bit stylishly, but then in the next, he seems reckless.
It looks like he's wearing pants, so that's good too..

The trailer says he will be revealed at PAX East, which is in just over a week. Needless to say, I'm very interested in this character, and I'll be looking forward to next week!

The full, good quality trailer can be viewed below.

Can we look forward to a new Road Rash?

Remember those games that were awesome, went extinct, and you thought they'd never surface again? Well, it's happening. The creator of Road Rash is keen to reboot the franchise.

On a post asking why there's hasn't been a word about Road Rash lately, Dan Geisler replied saying he needed a break from Road Rash, but after all this time, he wants to bring it back.
"Road Rash hasn't resurfaced because I was burned out after Road Rash 3, but I'm ready to do another one now. I just needed 20 years off. I'm ready to make a better one now. I miss playing it too."
"If there is enough interest, Ill do a Kickstarter on it."
Road Rash with modern systems, engines and graphics would be absolutely amazing. I mean, probably rated R, but still amazing.

He didn't mention anything about the legal battles that would come about, should he choose to try to start it again. The franchise is owned by EA, so he'd need to co-ordinate with them if we could ever see this again.
"I will need to talk with EA to get the rights. But I don't think they have a lock on motorcycle combat any more."
That said, I'm keen to get back into hitting bikers with chains, baseball bats, tasing them and giving them a face full of asphalt. Does that make me a bad person?

The satisfaction I got when these things happened was just incredible.

Halo 5; What I'd Like To See

So, with Halo 4 being like 4 months old, I think it's about time we start thinking what we'd like to see in the next installment from 343 Industries. I decided to think it over, and this is what I came up with..

Don't bring Cortana back.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the relationship between Cortana and the Chief, but she's gone, and I'd really like to see how the Chief deals with it. I'd love to see a bit more of the Chief's emotional side, and how her death affects his behavior when it comes to war. I think it would be nice to see him become a bit more reckless. I mean, he's always had Cortana there, in his head, guiding him and drawing his attention to things. I don't know, I guess I want her death to break him a bit, just to see how he handles it.

Maybe even give him a new AI to work with. I loved Serena in Halo Wars, granted I didn't get far in it, but something like that may mix things up a bit.

Bring back Firefight.

I'm not a hardcore firefight-er.. but it was a great thing to be able to just jump on, slaughter some covenant and jump off. Though, I'd love it if you could also play as the Covenant. I mean, we can as Elites, but playing from the simple cannon fodder, Grunts, all the way up to the tankish Hunters. That would be some great Firefight.

Assuming this will be released on the next gen Xbox, I can envision some spectacular things from a new Firefight.

Keep improving Forge mode.

Forge mode has gotten pretty amazing as of late. I mean some of the things the community create are just beautiful. One thing that is a must, we need a big space to build in. Bungie delivered on that in Reach with Forge World, so why didn't 343 follow suit? The hardcore Forge fans need a wide open space to let their imagination and talent run wild. Deliver on this, and the Forge community will thrive.

Also, if this is delivered on, I'd like to see 343 use their own Forge tools to create some official maps. Some of the best maps in Reach were the one's Bungie made with Forge.

More Forerunner tech.

We've got new weapons, new grenades, new enemies, now I'd like to see some kind of Forerunner vehicle for the Chief to commandeer. Though not likely, because they seem to prefer giant floating orbs, it would still be sweet.

Give the Covenant a better role.

I felt like the Covenant were very washed out in Halo 4. It seemed like they were there, but only because it was a Halo game, and they had to be there. I'd like to see a substantial reason for them being around. This could be a nice way to bring the Arbiter back into the fold. I mean, The Arbiter and the Chief's alliance pretty much saved Earth, and now he's just vanished. Feels a bit sudden to me. Anyways.

That's my wishlist for the next Halo game, let's home 343 top Halo 4 with an even greater game. The chances that it will release on the next gen Xbox are pretty high, so I'm sure they'll deliver on their promise.

Agree? Disagree? What would you like to see in the next Halo game?

Borderlands 2; New Vault Hunter Incoming?

Recently at SXSW, Gearbox decided to make us joypuke our faces off, once more.

They've decided, to give us a sixth vault hunter.

The preview showed us that he will more than likely be a melee focused character, much like Brick in the first Borderlands. Looks to be some kind of creature. It also featured this quote;
"Deep beneath Pandora, an experiment has escaped. Bandits beware, a new Vault Hunter is coming. More mayhem awaits."
 Matt Armstrong, Franchise Director for Gearbox, told Joystiq this;
“DLC is announced on a very tight schedule, and I don’t think you’ll have to wait long until you see that character.”

I'm extremely keen to get my hands on this, and I'm sure you are too. Just know, this DLC character won't be part of your season pass, you'll have to fork out for this one.
